Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu held a youth forum on November 27. Students asked him about signing the Peace Agreement. Han referred the cross-strait relationship to "Son of bitch and Dad. Isn’t it powerful? What is son of bitch? I call you SOB; what is Dad? Dad, give you what you want?" Then he emphasized it is so easy for him to describe but what’s good for you?
On November 28, Han campaigned in Changhua and criticized why DPP’s politicians President Tsai Ing-wen, Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan, Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-cher are white fat and KMT’s heads of county and city are black and skinny?
It is indeed ridiculous that Han’s presidential campaign focus in nothing but BS without any policy presentation. Su Chi, a member of Han’s national policy advisory team, made and brought up the term of 1992 consensus set it as the guide line for KMT to interpreter the One China principle. It was revoked by Chinese President Xi Jin-ping in January this year said no more any consensus but one country two systems. Now, Han respects China as Dad and calls Taiwan as SOB. What a crazy statement of the cross-strait relations.
The presidential campaign is the time for all candidates to present their national policies to voters asking for approval. Unfortunately, it is not for Han. He knows nothing but bragging how indiscriminate - eat, drink and hold woman he was in youth. He claimed he was a political amateur running mayoral campaign only with a bottle of water, a bowl of braised pork rice and elected as Kaohsiung mayor last year. He believes he can play the same trick to win again in the presidential election. Well his trifling skill has been well recognized already. It won’t work anymore.
The true relationship of Taiwan and China is not related at all. Even thought China keeps claim Taiwan is part of its inalienable territory, Taiwan had been ceded in perpetuity and full sovereignty to Japan on April 17, 1895 by Xing Emperor under the Shimonoseki Treaty. And since then there is no any legal document can prove China retreated the sovereignty. As a matter of fact PRC filed a complaint in UN and the 530th UN Security Council rejected it with 9 to 1 vote on November 29, 1950.
After WWII, Japan renounced all right, title and claim to Formosa and the Pescadores Islands on September 8, 1951 under the San Francisco Peace Treaty. Japan did not transfer Taiwan’s sovereignty to any government. The treaty did authorize USMG as the principal occupying power.
CKS and his KMT followers defeated by MTD and escaped to Taiwan after China Civil War in 1949. The principal power, USMG allowed CKS and his followers to temporarily stay in Taiwan as refugees not landlord. Unexpectedly, the Korean War broke out on 25 June 1950 and President Truman accepted CKS as allied to defend Taiwan against the potential communist’s invasion. It ended up the overdue military occupation of Taiwan until now. ROC government has never owned Taiwan’s sovereignty. It is nothing but a housekeeper or tenant of Taiwan for USMG.
The US Congress constituted a domestic law the Taiwan Relation Act officially de-recognized the ROC government and only recognized the governing authority on Taiwan in 1979, and it has been 40 years already. This is the true history of Taiwan. Hopefully, all Taiwanese will have chance to study, understand and recognize it especially in this election season. So, it does not matter whether you are white and fat or black and skinny, you should know Taiwan is the saver of ROC and China could be Han’s dad but not Taiwan. Remember Taiwan is not ROC and ROC is not Taiwan.
